Before I towed my FW, I was at 70 all-around on my truck, since I wasn't towing or hauling anything serious. They hunted worse at the lower pressure and no weight. Also, I was running 80 as I had stuff in the bed of my truck, right up against the cab, as well as 4 adults and stuff =in= the cab. Tires are 265 vs the OEM 245.

Well as Jimnlin posted you have made the mistake that many do, if you installed 265's on you OEM 6.5 rims. Find a set of 3500 take off rims made for 265's which are around 8" wide and you will be able to run correct inflation in our 265's. Tire shops that install 265's on OEM 6.5" rims should be kicked in the butt. You are a poster boy for this issue. Many have told me over the years that they have no problem with this setup, not aware that their trucks handling is effected. You are aware of the handle issue, however not of the mistake you made on rim/tire mismatch.
This chart lays it out. 6.5" is already to min width for a 245 tire. Jimnlin's 235 solution worked well as 6.5 in the middle size for the tire.

I ran 58-60 in the front all the time and got good even tire wear. at 60 pounds the 265 is rated at 3000 pound, so 6K on a front axle that weighed around 5200 pounds.
