Not sure I want the washer/dryer combo

Just picked up our new-to-us 2010 Designer with the w/d combo. Not sure since we are not fulltimers that we want the w/d combo - Splendide. Is there are market for these as used. It does not appear to have been used much at all. Don't feel we need the extra weight and we would have new drawers or shelves made in the cubby. If you were to sell it; what would be reasonable. They seem to be about 900-1000 dollars new.
  • Keep it as if you sell to a private party in the future you will get more for the rig with it
  • I would leave it for a few trips and then decide. We camped last June with a group of friends. One of the children got sick during the night and thru up on the bed. The next morning they had to use the campground laundry to wash the sheets. Having a washer/dryer would have made it a lot easier.
  • Using the W/D depends a lot on your camping style. If you go out long term, then a W/D is a good thing. If you are a weekender, or go a couple weeks at a time, here and there, then the W/D becomes less useful. And the additional space can be more useful than the W/D Combo.

So it depends on your RV'ing style. If in good shape and vented, I would think advertising for $500 would be a good place to start. If you cannot sell it for more than $400, then keep it and use it. Regardless of your RV style of use, it will be worth at least $400 to you. Hey you can use it as a laundry hamper if not in use.

Be sure not to remove it from the RV before selling it. Your buyer will want to see it run.
  • Like most others above we are not full timers. Trips of less than a week normally with one 2-3 week trip thrown in each year.
But we use the W/D combo regularly. Just throw in a load, set it to wash AND dry, go out doing whatever we want to do, come back later to a clean dry wash load.
No hauling clothes back and forth to a laundry. No sitting around a laundry waiting for the machines to finish or waiting for an empty machine. And no looking inside to see what crud might be inside before deciding to put our clothes in there.
  • Try it b4 sending it down the road. My wife would use it and because it's small and slow she would use it everyday. No big deal. Start it and when it's done fold/ hang whatever. Heck, the w/d here at home goes everyday sometimes. It's going right now. sure beats taking stuff to the laundermat. Last ?resort?? we were in had no laundry so pack up the truck and drive about 3 miles and fight for machines unless you went after 9 pm. Not fun. Try it.
  • I'll admit that most who post favor having the W/D on board. We full time and can't imagine having to do laundry on board. Hanging clothes to dry? Sorting space? A bunch of loads? Seems that laundry would be an almost daily chore. We go to laundromat once every two weeks and wash, dry, fold in about three hours - zap - done. No need to mess with it for another two weeks.
  • Heck we were not full timers either, but used it all the time to avoid having to drag so many clothes back and forth from the house. Love it. But since you do not want it, yes, craigslist it for maybe 500 dollars depending on its age and whether it is vented or ventless.
  • Have you tried "using" the w/d. We owned 2 MH's for last 6 yrs. Both had w/d combos installed. We really enjoyed the availability of having ways to keep washing caught up without going to the laundry. We spent 2 1/2 months in Fl. last year and never went to the laundry. Just washed small loads and built a clothesline to hang washing outside when weather permitted. We are not fulltimers but enjoy staying in places more than a few days at a time.
