- GoPackGoExplorerIt won't go up at all most of the time as electric is normally included in anything less then monthly rent.
- jgrimesExplorerOn board w/d sounds great regardless of up front cost. any idea how much ur electric bill would increase if ur washing and drying say 3 loads per week?

- cmsmExplorerI usually do3 loads per week. The park we are at is $1.25 each for wash & dry. That is $7.50 per week & totals $980 for the time we have been full timing. We bought our set for $800 "used" from someone who wanted more storage space. We are money ahead already.
The last time I used the laundry in an RV park, whatever had been washed by someone prior to me, left a residue in the washer & I had to throw out my white T shirts. - docjExplorer

If cost is a factor quarters are cheaper than a W/D.
Doing laundry at an RV park or laundromat costs us an absolute minimum of ~$5-7/week depending on the particular location and how often we're washing sheets and towels. That ~$300/yr which means that simple breakeven on the purchase occurs in 3-5 years for most people.
As far as we're concerned, having a washer/dryer is "priceless" but even if you are driven by cost, it's not as expensive a purchase as it might seem. We bought an extended 5-yr warranty for our new Spendide so getting 5 years service out of it is assured. - GoPackGoExplorerI ordered the Splendide stackables in my new rig and like them very much. I full time so there is no 'time' issue. I put a load in the washer and just check later to move it to the dryer. I always make sure the grey tank is below the half full mark when I use the washer.
- JEBarExplorerthe two major players in the single unit, RV washer/dryer market are Splendide and Majestic .... over the years we've had washers (not the combo units) made by both .... based on our experience, Splendide puts out a better product
Jim - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIWe have the W/D prep but after two years of full timing without the W/D we would rather keep the storage space and use the park facilities.
If cost is a factor quarters are cheaper than a W/D. - cmsmExplorerI have the Splendide Ariston. It is an excellent machine. A typical load is 4 pairs of shorts/capris, 8-10 golf shirts & dark underwear. A white load will be queen sheet set, 3-4 tshirts, light colored underwear & 6-8 pairs of socks. I can wash 4 bath sheets with no problem. I usually hang the clothes to dry. Because of the high spin speed, the clothes will dry in under an hour. I rarely use the dryer as it takes more time to dry the clothes than it takes them to dry on a drying rack.
We have been fulltiming for 2 1/2 years & I would not consider giving up my Splendide. - docjExplorer

My wife and I have been having discussions about these, and she is of the opinion that the load capacity is considerably limited. She believes that you could only put a pair of jeans in at a time. What is everyone's experience with load capacity. Do you basically have to wash what ever you wore the prior day everyday?
The user guide for our Splendide says it can wash 15 pounds and dry 11. That's a lot more than just the clothes you wore yesterday. We can wash and dry a set of queen sheets and pillowcases, or all the towels we are currently using, etc. We often do wash clothes at least every other day to keep from having too much wash building up, but that's just as much because we hate seeing a pile of dirty clothes.
