- C-BearsExplorerWe have been using our 6-point level up system now full time for well over a year. I would estimate that we have set up at over 30 CG's in that period of time. Never a problem with it.
Another added benefit, that we haven't had to use, would be raising it to change a flat tire. - hbillsmithExplorerLippert's Hydraulic is branded "Level Up". The electric is branded "Ground Control 3.0". For what it's worth, I am very pleased with the way my 4 point plus 2 rear electric stabilizers function on my 32' Wildcat. They go down and come up as expected and desired. The 4 pts are capable of lifting a wheel off the ground if I need to change a flat for instance. Their speed to deploy is fast enough and the coach ends up stable and level. I paid $1495.
- kakampersExplorerJust looked it up on the Sandpiper/Forest River website...it lists the option as a 6 point hydraulic leveling system...that's one heck of a price!!! However, it does not state automatic... But don't think they make one that isn't...
- WeBeFulltimersExplorerFor that price I would want verification that it is the 6 point HYDRAULIC auto leveling system. Seems very cheap to me. Just watched a guy a few days ago trying to get his 6 point electric to work on a new fiver and it was a MESS! He was about to pull his hair out. I am very happy with my true 6 pt hydraulic system but you can bet I didn't get it for $2k.
- hbillsmithExplorerMake sure you are indeed being quoted a 6 point level system. Lippert sells the OEM mfg three different systems. A true 6 point hydraulic level, a 6 point electric called ground control 3.0 and a 4 point level also called ground control 3.0. Most dealers sell the electric 4 point auto level paied with a couple of electric rear jacks for $1600-$2000 and call it a 6 point. It is not! A true 6 point is a 1 button press for all 6 jacks. The hybrid auto levels 4 jacks then you step to the back of the RV and manually press the two buttons that lower separately the 2 rear stabilizers. It's very easy to put the 2 rears down without changing the level that the auto-level adjusted to. The hybrid is used on sub-40ft. RV's. I have it and it's just fine.
- Dutch___DiExplorerWe don't have the Levelup but had the Big Foot Leveling system installed on our Carriage in 2010. Would never have 5th wheel with out a auto leveling system. It has been just about trouble free for 5 years.
We are 38'long and while the BF did offer some stability, we still opted to keep our aftermarket permanently installed stabilizers on so we could have the best of both worlds.
Whether it is offered at an option or you get it aftermarket, I feel they are well worth the money. Hugs, Di - AcampingwewillgExplorer IIFrom a non 5th wheel person.....I watched my neighbor level his 5'er with the 6 point system. All I can say is Wow! I was really impressed on how well it operates so if I ever get a 5'er it will have this feature for sure.
- GoPackGoExplorerMuch, much cheaper.
- PMiller228ExplorerWe went ahead and ordered the Sandpiper with the 6 pt. leveling system. Sounds like a great option to have and better to add it now from the factory than later.
Thanks for the replies! - Parrothead_MikeExplorerWe traded our old Cardinal for a 2015 Cedar Creek Silverback 29RE while in Florida this past winter and it came with the 6 point leveling system. It took me a few tries to get comfortable using it, but now it's great. I think my initial problem was related to the user (me). I pushed buttons before I should have. Now I just let it do it's thing.
If possible be sure to have a full demo from the salesperson so you can witness the process.
Last weekend while camping with friends, while they watched, I unhooked and pushed the auto-leveling button and walked over to talk to them. They were amazed to see the Silverback level itself.
