Outside LP Quick-connect

I have the same set up on my Cougar. The problem is that the quick connect is after the propane regulator. I don't use the quick connect because I would have to purchase a special BBQ for around $300.00 that would work with this system. Keystone didn't bother to point that out when we purchased our rig new.

Indeed the problem is the regulator on the stove. The quick connect is already regulated, so you are double regulating. If it were me, I'd see if I could remove the stove regulator and plumb a hose fitting in it's place so you can hook up to your quick connect, but that's me and I'm pretty comfortable working with the gas lines.

They probably have stove made just for this though and you might consider that route if gas lines are beyond your comfort zone.

Ya, I figured it had something to do with "double" regulating!! I can take the regulator off the stove, but the grills regulator also has the on/off and temp setting. That or run off a 20 lb. tank!!

I use a Campchief 3 burner stove with my guick connect....works great.

The basic explanation is that the propane system is at 11" WC pressure or approximately 1/2 PSI. The dual stage regulator found in most RVs are intended to deliver this low pressure at a uniform rate to all the appliances. Portable propane gas appliances generally have a single stage regulator that is designed to work at 'Tank Pressure'. That pressure varies with the ambient temperature. There are two options. The first is to purchase a gas appliance designed to work at 11" WC (generally expensive) or as mentioned previously, modify one. For my friend's fifth-wheel, we modified a Weber grill by removing the regulator and installing a quick-connect pig-tail. Other grills can be modified as well if the control does not have an integrated regulator. The second option is to install a Tee at the tank and add a 10PSI single stage regulator. From there, I ran a supply line to the quick connect at a convenient location. That is just enough pressure to allow the built-in regulator on my portable appliance to work. A 15 PSI would be a little better if there was one handy at the time. It can not be stated too many times that it is a BAD idea to tap into a tank and run a line at tank pressure for any distance. On a hot day there could be 200PSI in that line and on a cold day there could be propane condensing. Another idea I got from someone who used larger cook stoves with higher BTU output is to install an adjustable regulator to accommodate higher demands. If there is already quick connects on the rig, go with option one and get an appliance designed for it or be adventurous and modify. Option two if you are starting from scratch. In the end, this give you more choices of appliances.

I use a Coleman Roadtrip on my quick connect on a Keystone outback. When I first hooked it up my wouldn't work either. After a little research I found the quick connect was at the low point of the lines and there was some oil in the line keeping the gas from getting thru. Bled the oil out and it work fine.

This is my way of thinking just take along a 20# cylinder to use with your grill and stove.

Ditch the regulator on the camp stove. Very simple project. I made a "T" to snap into my existing gas line so I can BBQ and have LP Camp Fire at the same time.

I bought a 15' LP hose for BBQ and 25' for Camp Fire Stove.
