Paint Issues With Grey 5th Wheels.

Well, I guess if you don't maintain something you can say it won't hold up. Put you a painted Aluminum boat out there and see how the finish holds up.;)

I envy people who can take boats home after every use, wash them off, cover them up & not worry about them but you you can't do that with something that weighs 17,000# without trailer, is 32' long & 12'6" wide.

AS mentioned above All Open Range units are gray. The Open Range line and 3x line have a better finish than the roamer line. The Open Range line has more lustre vs. the Roamer line which is more a dull finish.
The final gel coat finish is the main difference between the Roamer and Open Range product lines

My 2012 Open range has not faded. If you check out the OR forum there is no discussion of faded caps. It is not a widespread across the board issue with Open Range..............All of their units are gray

I don't know. I had a 1987 Ford Ranger and at 6 yrs old the roof started rusting out. IIRC it had a 5 yr warranty. Many Rangers and F150s were having the same issue. Ford said Too Bad!

I had it repainted and a few years later it started coming back.

depends on the manufacturer...I work for Honda...there was a paint issue with the top sides of Civics a few years back...Honda covered the repaints 100%

If this was a problem with a car I bet the car manufacturer would do a better of taking care of the problem.

It's not just the grey ones....my brown Prime Time was faded 3 mos out of warr. Forest River will only contribute about 1/3 the cost of repair. It's a shame they won't stand behind their product!
