Bet you'll be =way= over your tire capacity, even if you're able to stay within the RAWR.
I would also look into adding disk brakes to the 5er for the downhill runs.

I tow 9300 lbs with a Ram 2500 6.4 4.10 gears. No way would I even think about towing 14,000 lbs. My max tow is around 15,400 lbs.
I hope you like the sound of Formula 1 cars, cause thats what your truck will sound like when not going downhill. Except on the flats where it will be fine until you hit an slight incline your 6.0 gas will be screaming for mercy.

Well because you live in flat lands you might be ok, but you will not be a happy camper in the hills. You will be pushing the max pulling power for your truck.

With a fifth wheel it's not how much you can tow. It's going to be how far over tow vehicle GVWR are you willing to go? How far over RGAWR will your tires go?

Our fiver has a GVWR of 14.1K The best day I ever had at the scales at any loaded weight was 2700# (right at 19%) hitch weight. However, our washer/dryer is located just forward of the axles and we do not have a 2nd A/C and we have a dually. Your 1st 5 degree inclined climb with that rig will put sweat on your brow, up and down.

Assuming 13,500 lbs loaded, and I think you will be at least at 22% pin weight, you're looking at 2970 (Probably 3000 lbs).

In my particular example, I loaded my 5er with 1140lbs of "stuff" and my pin weight increased by about 440lbs. Result increased my pin weight percentage from 20% dry to 22% loaded. So, 38% of my weight I added to the 5er from dry to ready to camp went on my pin.

If your cargo capacity is 3100, you will no doubt exceed that, by a significant margin is my bet. Assuming at a minimum you and one other passenger, you're probably talking 350 lbs of "people". Add 250 or so for hitch (maybe only 60 lbs if you go Andersen), then you're looking at weight of 3600 lbs against a cargo capacity of 3100lbs for the truck.

Doesn't even address the RAWR. If you don't know your current axle weight, you can get an estimate by looking at the curb weight specs for your truck. Add about 3400 to that weight (3000 pin weight and 300 lbs hitch weight), and if that total is less than your GRAWR, then at least you are okay there.

You should know that in almost every instance, just because a manufacturer says you can pull something that weights 14200, that you will, in all likelihood, exceed individual ratings BEFORE you reach that number.

I wish you luck...Glad you have access to scales. Think you will be shocked and disappointed. Hopefully not.

Hope you'll come back and tell us what the "rest of the story" ends up being.

While weight balance on a plane may help one understand tandem axles are not a true fulcrum. If this is true then I won’t be as bad off as I thought I might be. I have access to scales within two miles of my home. I can easily check weights of the truck and trailer. Also just because the fifth wheel is capable of hauling up to 15000 total weight doesn’t mean that I have to! After all is done and loaded if it still is over or doesn’t work out I can and will trade the fifth wheel off for a lighter one. If you can’t trust the manufacturer of the RV and pickup to give you solid information about their products who the Hell can you trust?
