If I'm in the middle lane I'm not blocking anything. You have 2 ways to go around if you're in that big of a hurry. Driving in the middle lane gives me more ways to dodge a bad situation, left or right, not limited to only left. Two lane I'll be in the right, 3 lane I'm in the middle. Left lane is fast lane.
