Pole and Holders

Hi all,

I'm looking real hard at the 22' pole and hatch holder from Poles and Holders

https://www.polesandholders.com/

Mount

I read about how the poles flex....and I began to wonder if the pole would hit the camper in stronger winds? How high up did you mount the holder to avoid this?

Sorry, I know there have been 1000 treads on this type of thing but search failed me.

Thanks everyone!

One thing to consider about mounting it permanently on one spot on your camper, if you park under trees, or in a wooded area, you're pretty much restricted. If you find a way to keep it mobile and consider different options about mounting it permanent, or using a non-permanent mount, if you park anywhere with a "low overhead" you can put the pole in a different location. (just something to think about).... good luck! happy camping!

There are the ground level mounts that are anchored by a plate that sits under your tire if you are looking for a portable system. The plate can also be held down be a stabilizer or tongue jack.

I've always been surprised what people hang off their ladders and never had faith in their strength or mounting/attachment.
  • I built one out of PVC attached to a metal stake that I drive into the ground that way I can put it a little ways away from the trailer if its windy and then its not so loud at night.
  • Funny you should say that -(then its not so loud at night) it's very ignoring bothersome when you hear that noise at night, I take mine down each night not just for me but for others around me. If I'm camped in close quarters as well trying to be a good RV'r.

Same here unless we're expecting late arrivals I always take mine down. Besides you can sometimes "lose" your club flag at a District event!
  • Hey brother you can say that again! Lose your flag... the last time a club did that, not only did it piss off a few guys they tweaked the poles some how but it was awesome to see everyone club flags at the start of the races.

That was the old school I still like that.

Thanks everyone, sounds like even mounted low it shouldn't hit the trailer. I looked at the Flag Pole Buddy, however it mounts on the ladder. As my ladder is removable, I felt that would be too many wiggling parts.

I'll order the thing and try it a about 6' off the ground level...hoping to get it where I can install the flag without climbing :)

    Again, good info.....

I got a Flag Pole Buddy and just removed the back half of the mounts and mounted them directly to my door frame. So you don't HAVE to mount it on a ladder.

The top bracket keeps it from banging around on things. Expensive but worth it to me for a good solid mount & looks nice too.
  • Wow that's nice looking holder, ours is rusted, sand blasted and looks very used. I think it's 7 years old, lots of experience!!!
  • yes, another nice feature it is made with a fiberglassish plasticey stuff. Very tough and doesn't rust or fade.
  • That everyone. momentumrv, yours is intersesting as i like the flag pole buddy's 2 piece system, however my back door frame is flush with the trailer, yours is outside. IE: I'd have to mount it on the back rather than the side if that makes any since :)

I appreciate all the other feedback as well, some of which as me thinking....for example tree's in the location I pick. Most of my camping is dispersed in the forest so this could affect where in the meadow I park :)
  • I purchased a fiberglass 22' pole from campworld along with a hitch mounted stand...first time out with one flag on it, it ended up on top of my camper broke in half. I now have an alum telepole 30'...much nicer and prob unbreakable!!
