polyurethane refinish for dining table?
I put a dish just out of the microwave on my wood dining table and it left a dull ring in the finish. I was wondering if I could lightly palm sand the finish (220>320?grit) and then polyurethane it...

Refinishing our butcherblock kitchen table is on the 'to do' list after 'somebody' spilled acetone, or maybe something similar on it. Stripped the polyurethane right off it.
Must be at east 30 years of daily use on that table & still was looking OK. Must have put 4-5 coats on it.
I guess it could be 'patched' but that would result in coating of vastly different ages on it. Somehow I don't think that will come out well so instead of patching I am going with the complete refinish route.
