That sums it up. How many RV's go to the same places regularly vs. those who like to explore and constantly find new places.
If you explore new CG's a surge protector becomes more important If you repeat the same places you know what to expect.
Sure you can have a problem at a familiar place, but if the place is familiar you know what to expect.
I think a surge is cheap insurance however it is not absolutely necessary.
