I always installed one on my RV's before I got a variable speed pump. I wouldn't have been without one.
FWIW, using a 1 or even 2 gallon expansion tank for water heaters allows you to run the water a lot without the pump coming on. With a 2 gallon model I could flush the toilet at least 25 times before the pump would cycle. A nice thing to have if your pump is noisy and your concerned about waking people in your RV up at night.
The only down side to such a set up is winterizing. It can be hard to drain the tank and unless you put a valve on it, it wants to fill with AF.
