IMO, with a 12.3k FW, your 250's going to be right at the edge of its payload capacity. It's not what you can tow, it's what you can carry. Double-check your payload numbers. Just sayin'...

YES the pic I saw at first showing the Patriot slider did have the rails but I looked too quick. Further investigation the Patriot slider is only available in rail form not puck. So the OP needs the higher rated Companion PUCK slider. Agreed the puck system is the best for many reasons. The Patriot line riding on rails are great if you don't mind the the rails.

Its not a bad way to go if you have the puck system, the adapter. But direct fit to the pucks is the more simple way , it eliminates the additional cost of the adapter ,and removal when not needed.

At the time I bought my present truck with the fifth prep ,there were not a lot of choices on hitches that fit the pucks, plus I wanted to stay with my existing manual sliding hitch, so I went the adapter . Although I can remove the adapter I very seldom do. I have since went to the steel Andersen that also fits on the adapter .

^^ I'm thinking this is what OPs dealer has in mind. Hope not, but would explain the use of rail style hitch.

The other alternative would be to get a B&W Turnover ball hitch installed, then put a Industry Standard Rail with a square shank to go in the turnover ball. Easy to install and remove.

Agree with you, OP does not want to use an adapter. Direct fit to pucks, best option!

SELL your Patriot!!! Buy the Companion slider puck hitch. Install the pucks your self.

Do NOT try to cobble the B&W together.
