Pull Rite Super 5th question

I have a Pull Rite Super 5th with super rail setup. Every time I install the rails in my bed, I have to readjust the rails to fit the pins that the rails attach to. I also am having a problem with the holes on the rails lining up with the holes on the actual hitch. What should be a 10 minute install now takes me the better part of an hour. Has anyone experienced this?

  • I have the rails labeled and always install them in the same fashion since the day I brought it home. A couple of years ago I had a clunking when starting off from a stop. This was related to the bolts on the frame rails on the truck needing to be snugged. I found this out after contacting Pull Rite. After speaking with a rep at Pull Rite yesterday, they believe the problem could be related back to what I experienced a couple of years ago. They said if I even got a minimal turn on the bolts it could have been enough to knock everything out of whack. I called my dealer today and am having them readjust and realign my hitch the next time I'm in for service.
  • X2 on the labeling. Had my pullrite for many years and never had a problem. Marked mine DF (driver front) and DR (driver rear) with a magic Marker. Ron
  • We must assume your rails are not moving or you are having big problems. So, it must be that the thing must be placed one way and one way only. Therefore, the next time you can install it without much work, please label everything so that you do not have problems in the future. At my age, I need to label things or I would not remember later.
  • shadow is right.

Mark your rails before taking hitch out. FL for front left. RL for rear left. Now when putting rails back on mounting posts and hitch on rails all holes should match up.

  • i've had a superglide, but am not familiar with the superrail setup so this is just a thought. Maybe the rails have to be re-installed in the bed exactly the same way they were previously. Holes failing to lineup could be due to the rails being used on opposite side from before or turned end to end differently. Either way, i think the hitch to rail issue is caused by the bed rails not lining up as before.
