pull rite-super glide

I bought a pullrite superglide hitch (the 2900 model) and in the manual it states you can use a lock to secure the handle when in the locked towing position but I can't seem to find a lock that will work on this model because of the design of the steel around it, what do you guy's use on this hitch to secure the handle from coming open when traveling?
thanks in advance.

  • My Superglide is a 3300 and has the oval slot the pull handle slides through. I use a Master lock similar to the one shown. Much of the time I only slide it through as a precaution so a huge jolt doesn't release it but I'm not so sure that would happen. It's more for peace of mind for that and if left unattended it's locked so it isn't messed with.
  • I used a ball latch pin on mine. Could not find a lock large enough. All you need is something to prevent someone tampering with it walking by.
I had to crawl into bed of truck to take it off.
  • When I had a SuperGlide 4100, I had one of those circular locks that fit it. Don't know what the 2900 looks like so perhaps it's different. I'd also not be surprised to hear that they copied that from another manual... stranger things have happened!
  • I have a 2900 and there is no room around the handle to install a padlock. I made a U shaped bracket that prevents the handle from raising up enough and coming out. I had to drill a hole in the U bracket and the lip of the frame for the padlock.

  • Would like the exact wording from the manual on that to help. I've never seen a lock other than the one on the handle. I think you may be reading that wrong? The handle drops and locks in place. You have to lift it and pull to release. Maybe you have a new design I'm not aware of??
