The Voyager XP should be lighting up. It actually changes colors depending on how much braking power is being sent back to the trailer.
I would start at the trailer connector and inspect the wiring. Its not Rocket Surgery and is pretty easy to trace the wires and find the break.
If you need to replace the brake controller look at the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, P3, or the Primus IQ. They are fantastic brake controllers.
