Pulled the trigger,2105 Ram crew 3500,hitch install question

Just bought 2015 Ram crew cab 3500, 6.7, SB, Laramie.

wanted to thank everyone for there advice on what size truck to get... Its much appreciated.
would like advice on the pros/cons of installing a under bed hitch my self.
any thoughts, concerns ETC....
I'm very mechanically inclined so that's not a issue... i have not read much on anyone installing the hitch them self's
so curious on opinions
i will more then likely go with slider under bed mount in the 20K area

Thanks

  • You have several options. First does the truck have the 5th wheel prep option?

B&W Companion Slider Hitch is one option for trucks without the prep.

If it has the prep, then the Reece picture frame with a slider on it is an option.

The slider limits your options. Chris
  • This is an "it all depends" situation. You don't say if your new Ram has the factory gooseneck/5th wheel prep package or not. I'm assuming it doesn't, but the answer to your question is going to depend on whether this prep package is installed or not.

  • I installed the B&W in my truck and there is nothing to it. You can't even mess up drilling the hole in the bed. The hitch literally just bolts right in, no measuring required.

I think the hitch is already there just needs a stinger & Ball.

This refers to the regular trailer hitch on the back to tow a travel trailer...he's talking about a fifth wheel hitch which is not included.
  • There are several You Tube videos of how to install the under bed hitch. Most people are just nervous about cutting the hole(s) into the bed of a new truck. If you have the right tools it looks pretty straight forward.
