You don't need any extra or separate ins to cover the liability of a towed item (ANY trailer). It doesn't cover any other aspect of the trailer (like comp, collision).
So basically, if the trailer came loose from the back of the truck and hit a car, ins would repair the car but not your trailer. The trailer would be covered by separate ins policy.
Your trucks liability automatically covers anything it tows or carries.
