Beer repair? I was thinking you are going to post a picture of a beer can, cut open and contact cemented to the roof. . Well I would try it.
I actually did use some aluminum foil on my roof, it is still there. I had a crack in the 14 year old EPDM, and to clean it before applying new roof sealant over the opening, I HAD to cover it with something. I had contact spray glue in my worktruck (used to apply fiberglass insulation onto air conditioners and inside the air ducts). So I sprayed on some glue, applied aluminum foil to the area, and was able to wash the roof, and then apply a coating over it, that is still on there.
For a 'reliable' repair that does not look Hillbilly, you might try this stuff. http://www.epdmcoatings.com/videos_play.php?vid=25 This is what I applied to my roof last summer. It is leak free. It goes over all my soalr roof mounts, to the skylights, and gutter to the gutter on the other side. To the fiberglass front cap and rear cap, all one piece.
You can buy a gallon for touch ups, or if the roof is getting close to 10 years old, you might want to buy 8-10 gallons and coat the whole roof - especially while it is still in 'good' condition. You will have no more white streaks! Priceless. White streaks are caused by the factory EPDM roof flaking off to keep it looking like new. After 10 years, most of the white stuff has flaked off, and the black under it is showing through.
For Eternabond pictures and product, check out prices here.
https://www.bigrocksupply.com/Eternabond-RoofSeal-White.html It is really sticky tape, that is waterproof. Many are using it as a really durable product to protect the roof to sidewall connection, that might be rubbed thin by a RV cover or tree encounters!
Good luck on your repair.
Fred.
