No I will likely never have a bigger trailer. I was considering the dually mostly for stability and floatation if on soft terrain - boon docking, but I agree it is overkill.
I will get the 6 speed manual. Every automatic I've had I've regretted having. The auto on my GMC and my son's SuperDuty were terrible.
I can shift.
SRW is quite a bit better offroad than DRW, so if that's your reasoning I'd reconsider. Not only is it significantly narrower but you're not punching two tracks through mud, snow, etc. Or jamming rocks between your tire sidewalls. My fifth wheel weighs a bit over 10k lbs and it tows great behind my SRW truck, off road and on. I did have to do an axle flip on it to get it tall enough to match up well with my truck with sufficient bed rail clearance, which is going to be important if you're traveling offroad over rough terrain. The Cummins isn't as fast as the Powerstroke or Duramax, but it tows like a beast and is reliable and gets pretty good fuel economy. I love it.
I had the diesel in my GMC for pulling, not for racing, so I like the idea economy.
Lots of great info in all these replies. Thanks.
