Though its not a 3500 I own a 2012 2500 with cummins and its towed our 38' 14k fifth from Glaser to Yellowstone, to Orlando, and all over the east coast, from SC to Main.
Maintance is different on a Diesel truck, fuel filters, expensive oil changes, and most have two trans filters. As long as you keep up with all of that you'll be a happy camper.
The one negitive i have with dodge trucks, our SLT seats are not the greatest and the material is wearing thin where you climb in and out.
My 2012 has 140,000 miles gets about 18mpg (around town) when not hitched up, 14mpg when towing at reasonable speeds 65mph and its never met a hill it wasnt eager to climb.
