When towing, I have my mirrors flipped up. I've tried both way's and can see the tires on the 5er better with them flipped when cornering, and backing up, shows me a lot more of what is behind me and to the sides of me.
I leave mine flipped up, though it's my truck that I paid a nice price for and it's a dually, so I guess my great looking truck looks stupid to some, but it helps me gage driving into and out of some tight spots at time. If I had a SRW truck, I probably wouldn't leave the mirrors flipped up..truck is my daily driver also.
