On my 11 Dually I flipped up to tow and they are needed in the up position with the wide body DRV. I tried folding them down and I don't like the spot mirror being vertical at the end of the mirror in the down position so I leave them up all the time. I think they look fine flipped up with a DRW.
Hey we agree ,that spot mirror is totally distracting in the down position , but I have to admit I'm slowly getting used to it .

With the 2nd gen mirrors the spot is in the corner and did not matter if the mirror was up or down.
