polyurethane refinish for dining table?
I put a dish just out of the microwave on my wood dining table and it left a dull ring in the finish. I was wondering if I could lightly palm sand the finish (220>320?grit) and then polyurethane it...

I didn't believe this until I tried it myself. I had googled this problem and this is how I found this trick. We had a whiteish mark on our table also about the size of a small pot. Take a steam iron (remember them) with a little water in it, lay a white towel over the stain and run the iron over the towel with steam puffs from the iron, just don't over due it. Ours came out great. Took 10 minutes.
Did this just even out the dull spot so it wasn't noticeable or did it actually bring out the original luster of the finish?
