ready for a better hitch...B&W or Anderson Ultimate

I'm a little late to the party here but I have a question. First, I own a B&W Companion and I am very pleased with the performance of this hitch. That said, I am very intrigued by the Anderson hitch. The question I have is this, In all the videos I have seen on the Anderson hitch I have yet to see either safety chains or break away cable. Being a ball and coupler type of hitch isn't it required to have those items?
