Rear axel brakes hot??

Have pulled our new to us, 09 cedar now through about 30 hours total. Pulled into campground got out and could smell brakes. Rear wheels (left and right) were very hot. Why would current be getting to just one axel?

Anyhow we ate supper and just finished and the front left tire blew! While we are parked!!
Tires are like new and are the G rated 110 psi
Looks like I have my work cut out for me tomorrow. ?? And we are 500 miles from home.

  • I know this trailer was pulled south a few times but they look like new.
When we got the trailer I checked the brakes out. They were working at all for.
Am about to get the wheel off. Will keep you posted as to the code and make.

Yes, my previous 2004 Mobile Suites 36RE3 came with G-rated Goodyear G614 RST tires as original equipment.

    Rusty
  • The G614 load G tires were in use back in the late '90s/early '00s and were very problematic.
Some time in the '08/'09 era Goodyear re-did the G614 and now they have a much better reliability reputation.
Looking around the net at all the different rv/non rv heavy trailering forums the G614 have fewer complaints now.

The 16" Sailun S637 load G at 4080 lb is a excellent tire for heavy trailers.

  • Rear wheel brakes could be adjusted too tight so that they drag all the time

Rear wheel brakes could be only ones getting voltage and doing all the braking or majority of braking.......bad connections/wring to front axle brakes OR front axle brakes NOT adjusted

    G614 tire blowing
Look like new BUT what is the DOT date code......4 digit number on inside sidewall

    EX: DOT U2LL LMLR 5107
    5107 date code
    51st week of 07

New to you trailer........are tires OEM and 2009 vintage??
IF so they are 7 yrs old and you are luck it blew while stationary

Mine on 2007 5vr blew while traveling. 3 1/2 yr old.....Goodyear had some BAD batches 2006/2007
    $3000 damage....Goodyear paid

    So check the Date Code.
Might need all new tires plus spare

    IF so
Check out Sailun S637 ----'G' Rated tires (4080#/110psi)
    Alternatives to Goodyear G614s
    Good reviews/ratings.higher capacity and CHEAPER
