Rear fiberglass cap

The trouble I see with a flat rear is I would always want to walk around the front of the trailer even if it was the longer route! As Atom Ant says, "I would think it would pay for itself at resale"! ALL the higher end units have rear caps!

I would have definitely got the rear cap. I would think it would pay for itself at resale.

The big deal for me was that with the rear cap, it put a flat seam around the sides and top to seal it instead of the corner trim.

Less potential for water issues....

Love those frameless windows and diamond plate wrapped rear bumper.
Get the moulded back cap.

If you get the rear cap I don't think you can get the fold down bike rack. We are also looking at the 320 but the bike rack is a must have for us. I'll take the money saved on the rear cap and put it into Thermo pane windows

donn0128, we ordered the 320.

Unfortunately there is a lemon built everyday somewhere & RV's seem to have more than their share.

As previously stated, I have followed these for almost 2 years on several forums & reviews. It seems the average Columbus has the typical minor issues on delivery but very few issues after that. I hold my breath the first few trips with every new RV. I just hope I'm not the lucky one to get the lemon.

If I had bought this on my 16th birthday I don't think the fiberglass cap would pay for itself by fuel savings in my lifetime. I just wondered if there some other benefit that I was unaware of, besides good looks.

Columbus is manufactured by Palomino, which is now a Forest River Div. DW & I have followed them for about 2 years. They seem to have a good track record & offer very nice features standard (such as convection/microwave, etc) at a good price point.
