Redwood 5th wheel weight

I never stay close to them on the highway and usually say a quick prayer for them as I quickly pass. Some of the smaller motor homes are just as bad.

Same goes for some RVers, you can give them all the info, but if their mind is made up, nothing is going to change it.

I made the mistake of believing those numbers and buying the truck before the trailer. Within a few days after getting the trailer I was shopping for a dually. Now that I've had the dually, I wouldn't have anything else.

Yep, the sticker on the closet door is the weight leaving the factory, empty propane tanks, and in many cases the tiniest battery they can find.

Yep, DRVs can get very heavy, but you still see a lot of them pulled by 250/2500 TVs. Scares the he.. out of me when I see that, but the owner will tell you that it pulls great!!

Yesterday, when I referenced heavy weight on the latest built Redwoods I was mistaken. Their GVWR's don't exceed 16,500lbs. Also, their scaled dry weights don't exceed 14,500 lbs. Obviously, a Redwood trailer will never need to have larger than a one ton dually tow them.

I am looking at DRV's and have glanced at the Redwood brand. The nu mbers that I referenced were from DRV's. They're running right around 16,400 - 19,000 plus right out the door scaled dry weight.

DRV is the one that offers 8,000lb axles standard equipment. They also, offer a tri-axle set-up on the 19,476lb. dry weight unit.

The sticker inside the cupboard that is handwritten and signed by Miss Fox at Redwood, that is out the door scale weight, correct?

With reference to Dry Weight, if you're referencing the Dry Weight as shown in Sales brochures, it's not worth the paper it's printed on.
Now if you mean the Dry Weight (Shipping Weight) sticker that's put on the unit just prior to shipping, that is at least a starting point as it includes all the factory installed options, but still no propane, water, vent covers, any Dealer installed options, or any of your belongings (clothes, food, pots, pan, plates glasses, DVD collection, etc.
With options, our RW arrived over a thousand pounds heavier than Brochure weight. So once you fill the Propane tanks, install heavier/bigger batteries and load it for long or full time travel you approach or go slightly over the GVW very quickly.
I think the newer generation of 350/3500 Diesel Duallies will handle rigs up to approx 20K. Our 2011 GM has a 21.2 Max 5th Wheel and a GCWR of 29.2K, so we still have some wiggle room.
