Reese or Curt

Well next week I will get our fifth wheel hitch so we can get our new home on wheels. now just to make the final decision on a Curt or Reese. Both appear to be great, just want a couple more takes on them. It will be 16K manual slider. under bed mounting kit maybe. Also what about the sidewinder? thanks Jeff
  • Skip the slider and upgrade to any brand 18k or higher. The higher rated equals better quality the hitch
  • We purchased a new 2015 F-250 and looked at several hitches before deciding on the B&W brand. It's not cheap but seems like the best quality to us. Will have it installed on Thursday and will let you know what we think.
    Just my two cents....

To me that is more important then what brand. All have good points.
  • As far as the Reese hitch you will hear a lot of negative, and again it will probably be mostly from the B&W fan club. Most of the negative has been from one in particular, he arrives at these opinions from his campground surveys, not from owning one.

Now back on topic ,I have owned nothing but Reese hitches for several years with zero issues. Easy to hitch, and unhitch . Single wrap around 1" thick jaw. Its the 18K Signature, same head as the Elite. Previous hitch was the Reese Pro Series, again no issues, just needed to go to a higher rated hitch. Good luck with your choice
  • I have a Curt 20K, after using Reese for years. The Curt is a very solid hitch, it has a second latch, to make a very secure hookup. The problem is it can be kind of fussy to get the second latch to lock in. Once connected, very solid.
  • A Ford or Chevy type question.
Both are good hitches. Just pick the one the dealer makes the best deal on that satisfies your price needs..in the color you want :B

My choice would be the one with a 4 way pivot for ease of hooking/unhooking on unlevel ground.

Can't help you on the Sidewinder but it seems popular with those that have one.
