- MFLNomad IINot knowing what model fridge, some have a wire attached to the fins in fridge to control temp. If this comes off, is hanging down, may cause fridge to continue to cool until freezing.
Jerry - ksg5000ExplorerRV refrigerators are designed so that when the thermistor goes toes up the fridge reverts to constant on - that often ends up with everything eventually freezing. Replacing the thermistor isn't very hard (DYI project) and new thermistor isn't very expensive. Simple Google search for replacing RV thermistor should get you plenty of hits/youtube videos.
Most of the new fridge temperature controls are limited - you probably will find a sliding mechanism on the right side of your fridge fins - that holds the thermistor bulb (the one you likely need to replace). Moving that up/down controls temp. (try that first but it's likely you need to replace the thermistor). - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIAbove posts are correct....
If you mean you have no temp setting adjustments on upper panel....an 'Auto Temp Control'
Then you have a Dometic Brand fridge
Inside food compartment on far right fin S/B a clip with a 'thermistor' attached
Thermistor senses fin temp and then T-stat controls heating cycles based on that fin temp
IF thermistor is not in on fin and hanging down the t-stat senses a 'warm' fridge so it tries to cool...continuously because thermistor never reaches 'factory temp control setting'
If thermistor is hanging down put it back in clip and slip clip onto far right fin ---mid-position.
wait 24 hrs and recheck fridge temps.
Too Cold..slide clip DOWN
Not Cold Enough....slide clip UP
On the Dometic non-temp adjustable models moving clip Up/Down will make minor temp adjustments (6*F - 8*F)
Fridge T-stat will continue to attempt cooling if thermistor is also BAD
If BAD.........replace with a Snip-The-Tip thermistor replacement
Snip-The-Tip for Dometic - judelaurenzo25gExplorerLike Old-Biscuit said http://www.snip-the-tip.com/cgi-bin/articca.cgi is the best thing I could have ever done in my previous RV. All my food froze = bad thermistor
-JL - ScottGNomadSay, you didn't just recently buy that TT did you?
We traded ours in a few months ago.. - Gray_FoxExplorerLast summer our ref. in the RV did the same, Replaced the Thermistor
in about 10 min. Bought it on Amazon for about $10.00.
