Removing caulking?

What do you all use to remove old caulking on the fiberglass gel coat? Normally I would use a flat razor blade but not sure if that is a good idea on the fiberglass? Also is there a solution that softens it up to make is a little easier to remove? Thanks!

Harold has it pretty much spot on with equipment involved. I do use real razor blades, real carefully too.

On the solvent side -mineral spirits/paint thinner does remove the old stuff decently but will leave a residue. Use the denatured alcohol last to ensure the surface is clean for the new caulk.

Other hotter solvents can be used but there is risk to removing paint from metal trim.
