We only boondock about 6-8 weeks a year now and have not had any problems with our Samsung RF197 fridge after two years. We have four 6 volt house batteries and 425 watts of solar. I run the fridge with a Samlex 600 watt PSW inverter dedicated to just the fridge. The rest of the coach is powered by a 1,500 watt inverter. We leave the fridge on all the time and connected to the inverter all the time. No shore power for it. Overnight, when boondocking, we lose about 0.1 to 0.2 volts from the battery bank.
We had a Norcold 1200 fridge that was approx 12 cuft and now have an 18 cuft fridge that's always the same temp and recovers quickly from opening the door. Fridge is always at 38 and the freezer at 8. All our food lasts longer in this unit. Pick what ever fridge you want as either type will last a long time.
