A different residential refer question

We put in a $125 dorm fridge that we bought. It has a freezer. No it doesn't do propane, but we have an inverter that can power the 120V even off the alternator.

It has been a BLESSING because it has worked so well compared to the stock RV fridge.

Also a replacement RV fridge was $1100, this one was 1/10th the cost.

Don't care about the propane one bit and the savings were worth it.

Sound good to me and in fact excellent. Right now our original side by side Dometic is still going strong, but there's no way, I would want to replace this very expensive unit if and when it's needed.
So, how about your battery bank and what does it consist of?

Our 2012 Knight has a Frigidaire and we love it! 13 months and 12,000 miles with no problems so far.

My Dometic gets things ICE COLD!! and it is in a 1982 Holiday Rambler. It is original. I pulled a soda out of it the day I acquired it, The seller left me a few Dr Peppers in the fridge. it was ice cold but not frozen. If it fails I will go with a residential unit. The only thing I fear is fire. I have heard these ammonia units can cause fires. That I don't like. That would be the only reason I will replace this Dometic fridge. Not from performance that is for sure.

Whirlpool 22 cubic foot. About 18 months and lots of miles. About 95 watts or just under an amp when running. Running on a Samlex inverter that also powers entertainment centres and beverage water heater. Never, not ever would I go back. It would be the first thing I did to any coach we bought.

I have a Summit 8.8 cubic ft fridge powered by an 1100 watt Exeltech PSW inverter. The compressor pulls 0.9 amps @ 122 volts AC (approx. 110 watts) measured with a high end Fluke 187 meter wired in series. I have never attempted to measure the defrost amp draw.

Would never go back to a propane fridge.

OK, I have a question and maybe the OP can benefit from it as well. What is the current draw and how well would this said Samsung 197 do, if powered by a 1000W inverter and two 6v batteries? I'm thinking maybe 4 amps, which would be about 480 watts. Question is, how long would the batteries last and is anyone running with this setup?
