If you posted your FW's model and/or GVW, as well as the tire size currently on the wheels, it would help. Frankly, I'd use LT tires, either the Michelin or Bridgestones others have recommended (the B'Stones are cheaper, but just as good). If you feel you =have= to have ST tires, then stick with Maxxis. They do make a decent 10 ply 16" tire. G-rated tires are probably way overkill for your application.

If your GAWRs are 6000 lbs, you could use either the Michelin XPS Rib or the Bridgestone Duravis R250 which are all-steel carcass construction and rated at 3042 lbs @ 80 PSIG in the LT235/85R16E size, giving you a total tire capacity of 6084 lbs/axle, more than the required 6000 lbs per the gross axle weight rating. I've used the Michelin XPS Ribs as well as the 17.5" Michelin XTAs under previous 5th wheels and have never had any problem whatsoever with either.

Sorry we are planning trips down south this year Talladega and Daytona speedways so could incounter some warm weather

I have a 2014 sierra select 329re.Full loaded is 13800 in that area. It does have 6000 lb axles . I just no that the tire I have has a load rating of 3450. But I will look at those other tires. thanks

Just as a data point: I had two ST 235/85X16 tires blow out after less than 2 years and 8,000 miles. I checked the air pressure religiously, and always kept them at 80 psi. and rarely went over 65 mph.

IMO ST tires are not for use on tall heavy 5th wheels. They simply don't have the capacity to handle the weight.

There is a very large marketing campaign around the cheap ST tires. If you have 16" 6 hole wheels, you most likely have 5200 or 6K axles. There are many LT235/85R16E or LT245/7516E tires that will only out live ST235/80R16E's by a factor of 2 or 3 times.

Three best in order.

Michelin XPS Rib (All Steel)
Bridgestone Duravis R250 (All Steel)
Bridgestone Duravis R500HD (Two ply poly sidewall)

Depending of weight there are many other LT's that might work fine, however you did not provide any details on our trailer and/or type of use that is planned. Want to see America, then the three above should be on your list.

From what I just read a lt versus st holy crap. why don't they make it simple they say lt is made for light truck and the weight is about 500 less compared to the st. I just read the article from Mark poke talk about confusing . They say to stay with st

If your rims are 16" I would go with an LT tire, and I don't think Marathons are LT tires. IMO most 16" ST tires are not worth the effort to mount them.

JMO but I really think Sailun tires would be overkill for your application. They are a very, very stiff tire and may give you a very rough ride if you're loading them very lightly.

Personally I would be looking at an "E" rated LT tire. I think that would be a better solution for you.
