2. 1200 Fans are REQUIRED for the refer to operate correctly
3. How do they provide cooling? Analogy. You have a Radiator on your car. WHY do you need the Fan? To get a good volume of fresh COOL air THRU the radiator fins. Especially when in heavy stop and go traffic and idling. 1200 model refers are HUGE. They require more volume of fresh air from the bottom up thru the top than normal convection air can flow. So, they have 2 fans to pull and push the air thru the Condensor fins and out the top.
4. LACK of adequate air and the refer will not cool correctly. Remove the fan on your Auto. Think it will run cool enough now:B Doug

I get the picture, but are you saying that you have to pull the fridge out for getting to them? Certainly don't see anything from the outside by removing the access panel. The books on the thing, aren't helping much on physical location, either
What kind of symptoms does one have, if these fans that I can't hear, aren't running and other than what the OP is experiencing?
We had a similar Dometic in the old coach that was excellent by comparison to this Norcold and wasn't aware of any fans running with it, either.

Lack 0f adequate cooling. You cannot see the fans. Your Dometic was NOT anyway similar to this model. If you had a Side By Side Dometic, it had 1 rear fan not fans. It also had internal fans. Norcold 1200 models are EXCELLENT in cooling as long as all parameters are to spec. INCLUDING the OEM installation, which lacks on some OEM's and the rv'er blames Norcold instead of the real problem lack of correct installation and baffles by the OEM. Doug

There's a removable panel inside the fridge, with some coils behind it. Would these fans be accessible from this area? Just doesn't seem right, that one can't even see them and they sure must be of the super silent variety, if they're running at all, when required.

Don't know what you're so bent out of shape over and just asking if one might be able to through the inside panel and to see if they might be running.
Anyway, called Norcold about this and they tell me that the fridge will show an error code if the internal hidden fans aren't working and are also telling me that these fans are pretty much of the silent running variety. Not that the lady couldn't be wrong about some of this, but either way, I'm done with the tech. questions to you, on this thread.:(

I gave you some good free advice in my first two posts... reread them. Pulling the 1200 is something I've done too many times and I do it by myself... even taking it out the side window by my self. Once on the platform you can turn it enough to get to the fans and tstat... no need to put it on the floor.

Thanks for the reply as to the location of the fan themostat. I could see the fans from behind the frig, but didn't see thermostat. Have very sporatic internet service at this location so hard to get back to rv.net site. I will pull frig as soon as I can get access to right equipment. Thanks again.
