Roof Rack vs. Welded 2" receiver on back of 5er

Which is better? Which is cheaper? I already have the bike rack that would go into the receiver. I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 so I would need a Fitting Kit, Bars, and rack for the top of my truck. Or ...

At least if the bike bounces off the back of the trailer it is someone else that runs over it instead of you.
