Is rethreading broken pleated window shades as easy as it sounds ?

If you find string that matches close to factory at Hobby Lobby or such, how does it compare to quality of factory string? Reason I ask is that we just re-did a 4 string shade (would've had to be the biggest one) again this past weekend and I did it a just a couple years ago. Don't think the string O got was all that great. See how this string holds up.
