Sad....all the name calling....... when someone makes a honest mistake.

That's true, of course the most expensive way to learn is by experience. That said I have to confess I had the same thing happen to me. New fiver owner, high hitched, no test pull, and whamm! In my case the truck bed was only cosmetically dented so just a painless learning experience. We had a very good hitch a Pullrite. It positively locks shut. I'm not one to blame my tools, human error in my experiece is to blame for almost all of these events.
So evermore we were very very careful to be sure that we were correctly hitched and never had a problem again.
