- stripitExplorerWhen I first bought my used 38.5 ft 5th wheel and a MDT truck from a fellow before I pulled out of the RV park where it was I hired Dick Reeds driving school to come teach me and my wife how to drive it. Best money spent as far as we were concerned, we got two full days of behind the wheel driving, backing and parking. I have said many time the money we spent kept me from at least 3 or 4 insurance claims that first week. Learning how to turn corners when in traffic and not hitting street signs at the corners or curbs when turning was worth the price by itself. If your new and want to start out with some confidence, find a driving instructor and listen and learn. Just my 2 cents.

- T18skyguyExplorerI read about a trucker who received an award for 2 or 3 million miles without a single ticket or accident. His advice " Stay in the right lane, and if you drive just a little bit slower than everyone else, it will open up a big hole in front of you. Saved me many times." When I start getting in a hurry, I bring that to mind.

- LadyRVerExplorer III called a truck driving school. They had an instructor who worked with me on her time off one weekend for about 4 hours. Best money I ever spent except for getting my cocker spaniels.
- FireRobExplorerDrivers Ed. Took it in Highschool when I was 15. When I turned 16 they gave me a plastic card with my picture in it. According to the DMV I was legally allowed to drive anything under 26,000 pounds. But when I joined the fire department they gave me a different test and a new one of those plastic cards and now I can drive bigger heavier trucks that go woooo wooo
All kidding aside I don't know of a fithwheel driving school. I'd just buy your fiver and carefully drive to a large empty parking lot and try different maneuvers until you felt comfortable - donn0128Explorer IITruck driving school. But honestly you will get the same training by just towing it.
