RV issues

I just bought a new fifth wheel trailer from General RV in Brownstown, MI. I had to pay over 400.00 for them to prep the vehicle. When I did my walk through I was missing my screen door, one of my slide outs did not close properly and my bedroom air-condition did not work. I had to bring back my trailer for them to fix the problems. So far my trailer has been in the shop for 2 weeks. They still have not fixed my air-condition i had to cancel two vacation trips. Why did I have to pay for the prep service if they did not fix the problems before I picked up my trailer. What steps should I take next.

  • I don't know if paying for prep is normal, we didn't pay when we bought ours. Unfortunately, as previously posted, you took delivery (which was the dealers top priority) so you're now at their mercy. I'd escalate things with the dealer first. Not sure if the manufacturer is going to help much, but if you get nowhere with the dealer, it might be worth contacting them. Good luck!

Well you should have don a thorough Pre-delivery inspection and you should not have accepted delivery or paid BEFORE everything was fixed. You should have joined the forum BEFORE buying for guidance. Now you are at their mercy. Their are cases where some dealers have kept the unit for months. They have your money you are in a poor bargaining position. That said your next call is to the manufacturer whom you did not mention to see if you can haul it at your expense to factory for the work. Other than that not much can be done quickly now.

I noticed your name Are you ARRT
