RV Paint Protectant.

I’d like to thank everyone that replied to my tread about appropriate TV and Jayco quality. I now have a 2019 GMC 3500 DRW Denali, and a 2020 Jayco North Point 375BHFS on the way. This is the first coach I’ve had built and only the second one I’ve owned. My new question is in regards to paint treatment from the dealer. Is it worth the cost? And does it help with the gel coat fading and becoming chalky? Thank you.
  • Depends on the product. We put the dealer spray coat protectant on our last car purchase and it has been great. If it is hand applied I wouldn't do it. The clear coat type I would.
  • IMO, spend the money on a cover to park your rig under. =Much= better investment! :B

  • Dealer paint protection is a high price wax job if that. pure profit!!
  • Typically you can get a professional complete outside detail including hand wax for $10 to $12 ft. Every two years I pay a professional to do my entire rig and I think it's money well spent. I would skip the factory job and have a local detail shop do it. Just make sure you get references because detailing an RV is different than a car.
  • Almost any "paint treatments" from the dealer are mainly to pad their profit. It's very unlikely that it is worth the money. My guess would be that it would be a spray-on wax type application, and not worth the money you would pay.

Get the name of the treatment and do a Google search for reviews of that particular type of "protectant". But personally I would give it a pass.
