The problem arises when the local dealer has =his= interest at heart over yours, even if you bought from him. Either that, or sheer incompetence, no matter how good-at-heart they are. I =can= tell you that I will not sign anything unless I have it in writing from the manufacturer that they will support an independent repair service if I'm caught on the road and need warranty service or I have an issue with the local dealer, whether it's a dispute or plain lousy service. I will also make sure that, if I do buy through a local dealer, that =they= will take care of me, and none of this "sorry, 2 months before we can take it in" b.s. Either you service my rig in a timely manner or I go somewhere else who will.
