After 24 years working with car dealerships, I too am tired of the MSRP and allowance games.
When we were shopping for a new fifth wheel, it took me 3 phone calls to figure out who the dealers within 200 miles were willing to deal--and not play games. My local dealer was $9K high--unreasonable.
But I didn't like it when the low price dealership added $500 to the deal to special order my trailer--and it'd take 7-8 weeks to get it. Plus the factory had already raised prices $1,500 because of component price increases to them.
I took the prices quoted to another dealer who cut to the chase. And they modified the order on a previously scheduled fifth wheel and had my trailer on their lot in 3 weeks. It was the salesman and the factory sales rep hustling that made that deal.
I was straight up with the salesman, and he with me.
