they stopped using the deflectors on rigs because they didnt work when they actualy started testing things for fuel milage increases. I suspect they would be even worse in a pick up as they would be even farther away from the nose of the trailer and might even hurt milage by adding another negitive pressure zone and more frontal area. the best thing you can do is get that nose of the 5th as close to the cab as possible to minimize the drag behind the cab. for example I got over 1 mpg better using my 1999 f250 diesel shortbox with my 5th than I do with my 2014 f350 long box. but theres also almost 2 feet difference in where the 5th cab sits in relation to the cab.
