Ron, I agree and when in Viet Nam, the Chinese manufactured the AK47 that was used against us in that war...so I have no love for "China anything" to a point...BUT, though I still have issues, the war ended 40 years ago this summer....

Jim, didn't the AK-47 perform better in a dirty/wet/nasty environment better than our M-16's?
That's what I always heard. We only broke out out M-16's once or twice while I was in Thailand 66-67!

That's the general consensus from some that I talked to when it came to comparing the M16 with the AK47...They could also jam...casing get stuck in chamber instead of ejecting...though I never had that issue....I heard of some barrels warping during intense gunfire, but again, I heard that...never saw it...With modifications made to the rifle, it got to where the rain and mud didn't really bother it as badly as it did in the early 60's...I really liked it alot...heck of a rifle
We got our hands on some AK47's and enough of the ammo to use at various times, then we busted them up and tossed them, weren't any good without ammo....they weren't as accurate at longer distances, (I could see better back then:))....Been over 42 years since I last used one.........
On edit: If not mistaken Russians were first to manufacture the AK47, but the Chinese also manufactured them...It was the US versus, North Viet Nam, Russia and China whether anyone wants to believe it or not....
sorry to have gotten off topic...sure didn't mean to go that route...I apologize.
