I have had the same issue. The small plastic "spools" that hold the string for the blinds require a good amount of tension on them in order for the blinds to stay up. With them screwed into the thin wallboard there is not much of a chance of working. I have repaired a few with the plastic anchor method. As stated, screw size and length selection is critical. It must be big enough to expand but not so big that it spins the anchor in the hole when it is tightened.
