Securing Pocket Door for Transit-new hardware/ideas needed

Need your help with this one-on our last trip, the bedroom pocket door bottom latch (built into the door) failed on our heavy door. At the end of a 100 mile trip, the lower latch mechanism failed and we found the door partially open, off track and jammed. Was able to get it onto the track again and fortunately since it has a large glass insert, that was not broken.

I am looking for a way to secure the door better. The lower latch fits into a cutout hole and is supposed to hold the door in place for travel but it failed. Replacement of that latch is not likely as I do not trust it and the door would need to be removed. At the top of the door, it has a vinyl strap secured with two snaps but that was no match for the heavy bedroom door.

To complicate matters, lining the opening is a molding on each side of the cutout where the door recesses into the wall so whatever I replace it with must span the height of the molding which is about 1/4".

Let me hear your ideas and if you have a link to a product, please add that to your post.
