Security Porch Light Motion Sensor won't work (Solution)

I have this type of light and can't get it to work. It was working in Feb but stopped at some point durning the trip. I thought it was the bulb and that was replaced today and still not working. I didn't receive any instructions and found these
To enter the motion detection mode, the light switch is turned on, then off, then on again within 15 seconds. This action tells the microprocessor to start working. If the light is turned off for more then 15 seconds, it reverts to the normal light function mode.

The Battery Monitor function features a blinking red LED light when battery voltage drops below a predetermined level and will turn off the unit if in the 'motion detection' mode. The battery monitor light blinks blue if the unit is in the motion detection mode, and the battery has an adequate charge.

The blue light flashes but the light won't come on. I tried waiting the 15 seconds to go to normal function and still no joy. The first bulb did not look damaged but since I had the light apart I replaced it anyway.

Any suggestions as to where the malfunction is? Additional information, there is a light beneath the steps operating from the same switch and that is working.
  • I called the manufacturer of the light today and was very helpful (I could not have asked for better help) When I took the lense off we discovered the installer (Keystone) did not put in a supplied O ring around the lense. Water apparently got in while we were in Fla and fried the circuit board. I talked to Keystone and they would not commit to a repair without an inspection by a Keystone dealer. The problem is that if it is NOT approved, I'm on the hook for the dealer diagnosis $$. I've decided that it's just not worth it. I can get a regular light for less than $10 and replace it myself. If you have this light in a Keystone unit you might want to check to ensure the O ring was installed.
  • Ok before someone says something! I had one, (also had trouble making it work correctly)l but I got so many complaints from campers, I wired it for on and off! Great idea but they anoy the heck out of people. I like to be a good neighbor when I can, so I got the message!
  • The light should start blinking green once it is dark enough, once green then the motion detector should turn the light on....when blinking blue it means it is not dark enough yet...if I remember correctly.
