Shocks need replacing.

Some basic information. My 5ver has a gross weight rating of 16,000 lbs. And is scaled at 14,100 lbs. and 37 feet in length.

Now, while crawling around under it I noticed a shock was missing (gone). How do I upgrade to a better shock than the OEM (really cheap ones). Should I get the ones with springs? What about length of travel?
Brand is not important as quality.

I'm one who has learned so much from this group (Thank You ALL)

I would take one of the existing shocks to a good local parts house, they should be able to cross reference by brand, part number of length and length of travel.
  • the replacement shocks are monroe 555001 just like what newman said.there is also a 555025 shock but i think it longer. just google the two shocks and the messure your other ones and order
I dont know how old your fifthwheel is but you should check you bushing and replace them with greaseable ones
  • Sorry it took so long to reply but my research has shown the Monroe 555001are for trailers that are UNDER 10,000 lbs and the Monroe 555025 are for trailers OVER 10,000 lbs. So I'll order these.

    Thanks for the reply.
