Shopping for Couger 5th

I'm helping a friend research the Cougar line of 5th wheels. He is specifically looking at a Used 2009 Keystone RV Cougar X-lite 27RKS Fifth Wheel. He would appreciate any comments good, bad and/or ugly regarding the specific model or Keystone's in general. Thanks in advance, as you can always count on good info here on RV.net. Happy trails.

    Keystone's in general ... we have an 07 294RLS Cougar TT ...only time it was in the shop was for the recall fix on the Dometic fridge. Been a great trailer. DW is seriously thinking of a new one now.

    I have the 2008 version of that FW. We had a ton of problems during the warranty period. Cracked shower stall, stripped gears on the slide out which lead to the slide hitting the entertainment center. Had to replace the microwave which really wasn't Keystone's issue. It spent the first nine weeks we had it in the shop.

    But with that said, once we got through all the initial build problems, it's been pretty reliable. Our landing gear did fail last year, but we've replaced it with no further issue.

    Other than that, the only other issues we've had are sun damage to decals, awning and plastic parts due to our intense Arizona sun.
